In the Year of the Horse — which for us has marked an important milestone, the journey to Mount Kailash in western Tibet, at once the edge and the centre of our dreams — we are glad to invite you all to a free talk on The Tea Horse Road, Yesterday and Today, on Friday September 25th at 8pm CEST.

We will talk about our own experience, matching the historical records against the road as it is now, after decades in which those paths of stone and earth have changed destination — with new caravans, new meanings, and new routes for tea leaves, silver, and incense.

In every village along the way there are houses that still keep the old tools and harnesses, for the horses and for the men; we have spoken with the families descended from the caravan leaders of the last century, and we have often done so over the same food that once travelled the road, and is now family cooking.

We will talk about it together online, and then in person with anyone who can come and find us along one of the stops of our European tour, or in Sichuan and Yunnan, where we live all year round.

This seminar is made possible by the support of the Chinese Tea Culture Foundation, and is a small incipit of the work we are carrying forward together — work that has just taken form in the first monograph dedicated to the Tea Horse Road, available in preview over these very weeks.
